Megan is the Artistic Director of Megan Bascom & Dancers, a New York City based company that has been produced by Triskelion Arts Aldous Theater, The Rover SoHo and Dance New Amsterdam. Her work has also been presented at The Clemento Soto Vélez Centre, The Hoover Dam Collective’s events, WAX Works, Amalgamate Artist Series, Movement Research, HATCH, Inkub8 Arts (Miami, FL), Florida Dance Festival (Tampa, FL), the FIGMENT Festival (Governor’s Island, NY), as a guest with Treeline Dance Works and with MADArt Creative, Elm City Dance Festival (New Haven, CT), Provincetown Dance Festival (Provincetown, MA) and at the Built on Stilts Festival (Oak Bluffs, MA). In 2012 Megan was invited as a Choreographer-In-Residence at the Florida Dance Festival in Tampa, FL. Megan is a Florida native and graduated with honors from the University of South Florida receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies, focusing on dance injury and prevention. In her earlier years, Megan both apprenticed and performed for Dance Alive National Ballet (Gainesville, FL). She spent many years dancing in Brooklyn with white road Dance Media/Marisa Gruneberg, with whom she was a founding member. Megan has also had the pleasure of working with alex|xan: The Median Movement, Kendra Portier|BANDportier, Jody Oberfelder Projects, Rebecca Lubart/lubartdances, Tara Burns Dance, Moving Current Dance Collective, Doug Varone, and others. Currently, Megan works as a freelance teaching artist and is a private Pilates instructor working in and around the greater NY area.
In addition to her teaching, she is the co-author of a book with Deborah Kayton Michals titled Up Down, Move Around: Active Learning for Preschoolers, which was published by Gryphon House, a subsidiary of Kaplan, in 2013. The book focuses on movement and learning for young children.
